Maisie is on top of the world !!  She is rising 2nd grader who is officially reading at a 5th grade level.  We'll be spending a lot of time at the library this summer to keep her interest up !  She ALWAYS has her nose in a book and for that I am quite pleased.

She celebrated the end of her school year by taking part in "field day" where the 1st and 2nd graders compete in all sorts of games.  Her favorite was the sponge relay because she got to get wet !!   Her entire class also went on a trip to the aquarium... lots of fun keeping tabs on 17 six year olds.  My favorite creature was the Ocean Frogfish... too cool !

In preparation for our trip around the globe I have begun homeschooling this summer.  Both girls are really into it... we call it "Mom School" and we do our lessons after breakfast, followed by some sort of educational activity.  Friday is "Field Trip Friday" and last week we went to my friend's house to  make candles.  Her company is called Breathe Soy Candle Company and she produces the most amazing scents... like Sweetgrass Basket and Tranquility.   Both girls had an amazing time and they walked away with a goodie bag filled with candles.  "It was AWESOME" says Maisie.

Speaking of awesome, my "little" girl is not so little anymore.  She has officially graduated into big kid sized shoes.... a size 1.  Not gonna lie... I'm a bit sad about this.  Juliette has also gone up a size... though she still weighs less than 30 pounds.... my little Pixie.

Summer at Shangri-La is going to be great.  Our resident dove is on her 4th round of babies.  It's so much fun to watch them grow up and leave the nest.  A lesson for what's to come in my own life.  That's why I am savoring every single moment (temper tantrums and all) that we have together !!
